Who we are

Go Asia Guide ("we", "us") runs goasiaguide.com, a free guide to restaurants, bars, nightlife, hotels and deals in Thailand, Myanmar and Laos. Go Asia Guide is backed by Hut Ventures, a venture capital firm focused on media, music and education startups in Southeast Asia; Hut Ventures does not receive personal data from this site. We are responsible for the personal data described in this policy. Contact us at [email protected] or through our contact page.

What we collect

You can use the site without an account. We collect only:

• Messages you send us. When you use the contact or business form we receive what you enter: your name, email, phone number or messaging app handle (for example LINE, WhatsApp, Telegram or Viber), venue details and your message, plus the page and language you wrote from.
• Cookie and consent choices. We store your cookie choice so we don't ask again (see Cookies below).
• Technical data. When you visit, our hosting and security providers process your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site, block abuse and keep it secure.
• Analytics and advertising data, only with your consent. If you allow it, Google Analytics and Google's advertising services may use cookies and similar technology to measure visits and show or measure ads.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not knowingly collect data from children; the site is intended for adults of legal drinking age.

How we use it and why (legal bases)

• To reply to your message and handle requests from venues and advertisers — based on your request and our legitimate interest in running the guide.
• To keep the site secure and working (spam and bot protection, rate limits, error checks) — legitimate interest.
• To understand how the site is used and to show ads — only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
• To meet legal obligations where they apply.

Cookies and similar technologies

• Necessary: gag_consent remembers your cookie choice for 6 months. Cloudflare may set security cookies (such as __cf_bm or cf_clearance) to tell people from bots. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that forms are sent by a person.
• Analytics (optional): Google Analytics via Google Tag Manager, only after you allow analytics.
• Advertising (optional): Google AdSense. Without your consent, Google shows non-personalised ads and limits the cookies it uses. With consent, ads can be measured and personalised.
• Saved places: places you save with ♡ are kept in your browser's local storage on your device only. We never receive them.

Change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. We use Google Consent Mode, so Google tags follow your choice.

Who we share data with

We use trusted service providers who process data for us under their own security and privacy terms:

• Cloudflare — content delivery, security, spam protection and image storage.
• Railway — website hosting and database (servers in Singapore).
• Google — Tag Manager, Analytics and AdSense (only as described above).
• Email or messaging services we use to receive notifications about your message.

Links to booking sites (Agoda, Booking.com, Trip.com) and to venues' own websites take you to services with their own privacy policies. Some booking links are affiliate links: the partner may know that you came from us.

We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights and users' safety.

International transfers

Our providers may process data outside your country, including in Singapore, the United States and the European Union. Where required, they use safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

• Messages from forms: up to 24 months, then deleted, unless we need them longer for an ongoing business relationship or legal reasons.
• Cookie choice: 6 months.
• Security and server logs: kept by our providers for a limited period, usually a few days to a few weeks.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act), you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, restrict or object to its use, receive a copy of it, and withdraw consent at any time. Email [email protected]; we reply within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Information about venues

Venue listings are compiled from public sources such as venues' own websites and social pages. If you represent a venue and want details corrected or removed, contact us and we will update the listing promptly.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If there are important changes, we will highlight them on the site.
